Ladle Transfer Car

ET offers complete service, from conceptual design to customized solutions. Ladle Transfer car is used to improve the operational efficiency of Steel Melt Shop. It improves the efficiency of the steel plant by eliminating the need for a liquid metal handling crane while pouring the metal from the furnace.

  • Generally in an induction furnace based plant overhead crane is used for charging the raw material into the furnace using a grab or magnet. The liquid metal is also handled by the overhead crane. As the overhead crane is engaged, an empty ladle is picked up from the ladle preparation area till the metal is poured from the furnace and taken to the caster. 
Transfer Car
  • Normally it takes around 7 to 10 minutes, when multiple furnaces are used, as the liquid metal crane is engaged, the charging crane will move so that the liquid metal crane can come to receive metal from the furnace. 
  • If the liquid metal is poured into the ladle using a ladle car, substantial time is saved for the melting furnace to get feeding which otherwise would not be possible due to the liquid metal handing crane engaging the space. 
  • For safety reasons also, it is desirable that liquid metal handling by the overhead crane should be minimized. 
  • ET can design and build a ladle transfer car to fit into plant-specific requirements with the extreme conditions inherent within a steel manufacturing facility. 
  • All ET equipment is designed to perform in extreme conditions while operating consistently to meet specific requirements.
  • Ladle transfer cars include remote-controlled or hand-held devices for ease of operation. The wide array of control and communication features allows users to customize the operational requirement to their choice. 
  • The car body is welded design using a steel plate. There are 4 OR 8 wheels installed on balancer/end carriage on both sides. A set of the synchronized drive is installed on the Ladle Transfer car for jerk-free movement.
